The Mission of Beglika
Why does Beglika exist?
We live in a time when the world is becoming increasingly connected, but also increasingly noisy. It is easy to lose touch with nature, with the people around us and with our own roots. Often culture becomes a product, music – a background, and the community – an audience.
Beglika exists as a space for the opposite.
A place where people are not just consumers, but participants. Where music is not just entertainment, but a way to be together. Where tradition does not sit in a museum, but lives, changes and moves forward.
Beglika is not a festival. Beglika is a generation. Not by age, but by choice. People who live awake, truly, intimately. Who know: the spirit feeds when it creates, and flies when it is itself – here and now. Without a print. Without a screen to say who you are.
BULGARIA AS A SOURCE
We believe that Bulgaria has something to offer the world – not just history and folklore, but a living sense of rhythm, community and depth.
Our mountains, songs and uneven rhythms carry a memory that continues to inspire.
For us, Orpheus is not just a mythological figure, but a symbol of the power of music to connect people and make them more human.
Beglika seeks precisely this living thread – between the old and the new, between nature and modernity, between the root and the future.
Music as a living connection
For us, music is more than a genre or a scene. It is a way for people to truly meet.
Singing around a table, improvising by the fire, dancing, a common rhythm – these are forms of connection that have existed for centuries and continue to have meaning today.
Folklore is not a costume behind a window, but a language that is spoken today. Uneven rhythms – a way to walk on uneven ground and still dance. Bagpipes and electronics hear each other and flow. Music with integrity – of the musician, of the text, of the stage, of the gesture.
Music is a connection between us and a connection with our roots.
Open music laboratory – everyone is a creator
Beglika is a space for exploration.
The stage is open, the circle is open. You come and become a creator. Children who make instruments from reeds; teenagers who write their first song by the fire; adults who remember that they once sang and sing again.
We are interested in music that brings:
- authenticity;
- freedom;
- depth;
- human presence;
- cultural memory;
- courage for new forms.
The Balkans and the world – a circle around the fire
We believe that the Balkans have deep cultural connections that deserve to be rediscovered. Our rhythms, our humor, our ritual – are often closer to each other than we realize.
Beglika’s dream does not end in the Balkans. We carry this depth further – to a world, large and connected, in which artists and communities meet naturally. Culture connects where else divides. From this meadow – out to the world. And the world – to this meadow.
Community and co-creation
Beglika is possible thanks to the people who create it together.
These are musicians, volunteers, parents, artists, builders, healers, thinkers, children and friends. People with different paths, united by the desire to build a space with more humanity, beauty and connection.

We don’t just want to do a festival.

In 2026, the theme of the festival is water –
the source of life and a symbol of change in nature.
It embodies the common flow that teaches us to move together – with care and sustainability.
Why water?
Beglika was born in the Water Heart of Bulgaria – the Living Mountain, which protects:
> 36% of the country’s forests
> 35% of the dam volume
> 40% of the hydropower
We are responsible for what flows between us.
Water has always been more than a substance – a source, a symbol, a memory.
Our people know it: “Water gathered in silence”, “Water spoken over”, “Living water”.

“SOLARIA”
Today, the Beglika community supports more than one cause, not only because there is a need for change, but above all because what connects us is the indissoluble whole and the free spirit.
In 2026, one of the main themes of the festival is again the family – the smallest building block of society and the heart of our community. Children, the future of generations and the connections between us are fundamental to our mission. Beglika stands behind the mother and the feminine as symbols of the warmth and resilience of the family hearth. The family hearth is our foundation, which we instill, protect and maintain in the name of the new souls who are about to be welcomed into this world. Gently, lovingly and quietly.
We are initiating a series of meetings and forums, the main task of which is to unite people and build a unified and sustainable vision for addressing one of the most pressing problems of our time – family harmony. These initiatives will create a space for exchanging ideas, sharing experiences and creating long-term solutions.
We bring together experts to find solutions that support the future of our society. We will look for ways to connect with each other, generate ideas, organize meetings.
We join forces to create new conditions for family, birth, upbringing, education, growth and contemplation.
We build a new type of community network – expert and sustainably secured, which will bring us together and connect for the sake of future generations.
We create conditions for learning, working and shared experiences – with openness, purity and dedication.
“ORPHEUS”
ORPHEUS — A LABEL FOR MODERN ETHNO FOLK
After 15 years of inspiration and creativity, BEGLIKA is embarking on a new melodious path with its own music label.
Modern ethno folk
ORPHEUS will develop groups that intertwine tradition with innovation, recreating the beauty of ethno folk with elements of jazz, dub and electronics – Eterea, Plavei and others.
Classical Rhodopean folklore
ORPHEUS will “bring out of the shadows” unpublished musicians and singers from picturesque Rhodopean villages such as Dolen, Draginovo and Kochan, who will remind us of the roots of the Rhodopean spirit.
Online radio
for authentic and contemporary folklore. It will delight us with the sound of traditional Bulgarian instruments, as well as artists associated with the 15-year history of the festival and the community: Isihia, Kayno Yesno Slonce, Zeyra, Vataff Project, Merak Standart, Metaformozi.
ORPHEUS will be born before the eyes of the BEGLIKA generation through bagpipe performances, music educational initiatives and open sessions.
